Here are some simple home remedies that will protect you from pollution hazards and help you stay happy and hygienic.


Dispersed particulate matter and harmful gases turn into poisonous acids. They come in contact with the moisture or sweat on our skin and reduce the pH levels of the skin. This makes skin acidic, hence burning it and causing pigmentation. The skin thereby becomes prone to environmental stress when it is dehydrated. So, it is important to keep it clean and hydrated to prevent acne and premature aging. These drinks will help you purify the blood and remove toxins:-

Bitter Gourd Soup: Lightly fry some tomatoes, onions and bitter gourd. Add pealed green gram to the fried content. Add some water and boil it over a low flame till it becomes soft. Pour the contents in a food processor and strain. Add pepper, salt and basil to the soup and serve hot.

Mixed Vegetable Soup: This nutritious drink is made using carrot, bottle gourd, cucumber, tomato, garlic, Aloe Vera, amla and spinach.

Coconut-lime detox water: Add a cup of fresh coconut water to a slightly warm half cup of water. Squeeze some fresh lime into it and your detox drink is ready.


Many people suffer from hair loss due to pollution. Replenish that lost shine and get rid of dull and rough hair with the help of these natural nourishing homemade packs.

Banana-almond-milk-honey-mask: Add chopped banana, honey, milk and almond into a mixer. Apply this mixture on towel-dried hair and wear a shower cap. Allow it to stay for about 20-25 minutes. Wash off.

Egg and castor oil: Add a tbsp of castor oil to a raw egg and stir gently. Apply this mask on towel dried hair. Leave it for 15-20 minutes. Rinse well.


Harmful gasses turn into acids when they come in contact with the moisture; they cause throat and dryness in the nasal passage. Here are some drinks to soothe irritation:-

Honey-Ginger Tea: Boil two tea cups of water. Take some ginger, shred it and add to water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Put off the flame and add 2 tbsp of honey.

Mint-Basil-Lemonade: Heat some water for 2 minutes. Add 5 basil leaves and 4 mint leaves. Simmer for a few minutes and serve.

Chamomile Tea: Put some chamomile flowers or chamomile tea bag in a cup of hot water. Allow it to rest for a few minutes. Add a few drops of lemon juice and half tbsp of honey
