Masina Hospital has more than a Century old rich and traditional history of providing service to mankind. Masina Hospital is the first privately run Hospital which was established in 1902.
This Hospital was established by our founder Member Dr. Hormasji Manekji Masina. Dr. Masina aquired the palatial building called “Sans Souci” (which means “without care”, though care is at the heart of its business) from the well known Sasoon family. Mr.Sasson was so impressed by the service rendered by Dr Homasji Manekji Masina that he gave the entire property, measuring around 8 acers for a paltry sum of Rs.25,000. Dr. Homasji Manekji Masina started the Hospital with a small 4 bed set up on the first floor of the old building at Byculla in Mumbai and within the next five years this facility expanded to a muti-location set up which spread to adjacent buildings and accommodated over 100 patients.
In 1907 a Trust was founded by Dr. Homasji Manekji Masina with the help of prominent people from the community who were appointed as Trustees on its Board.
Today Masina Hospital is a 280 bed facility located in South Mumbai with beautiful plush gardens and fountains enveloping 5 marble statues which are more than 100 years old. The heritage structure is spread over 8 acres of land having five well equipped hospital buildings with a constructed area of around 1, 44,000 sq ft.
Day to day activities of the Hospital are run under the guidance of our prominent Trustees and able leadership of our Medical Director Dr. R. B. Dastur. The Hospital has a staff strength of around 500 employees as well as a dedicated team of 200 experienced and renowned Consultants.
The Hospital strives for excellence through its efficient, polite and patient friendly employees and Consultants.
Today, we are proud to announce that our Hospital caters to more than 34,000 patients annually of which about 5,000 are indoor patients and 29,000 are outdoor patients.
