Thane Health Care Hospital has been conceived and managed by a team of doctors convinced that health care is a service industry and the service has to be prompt, economical with a personal touch without compromising on the quality. Dedicated theatres, own water supply and generators and computerised record keeping are but a few of the simple things that we hope will make your medical and surgical care simple and safe.
Thane boasts of a population of 15 lakhs and for this huge population there are barely a couple
of self sufficient hospitals catering to multi-specialities and definitely none in the heart of the
city . Such a multi-speciality set was awaited for a long time and it was inaugurated on 8th April 2001. In the heart of the city, on Gokhale road and barely 5 minutes from the railway station and the eastern express highway makes it a attractive proposal to most patients.
Other than its ideal location it has the distinction of having all the routinely needed and some
special facilities under one roof. A 40 bedded set up with 11 beds for ICU and 2 beds for dialysis it is one of its kind in the city. 2 well equipped OT's and an equally well equipped labour room will cater to all types of emergencies and operations. An in house 24 hrs. pathology, radiology and sonology unit will stop the unnecessary running around that the patients and relatives have to undergo at many a places. 5 consulting rooms will cater to hundreds of patients needing the outpatient consultations. There are 2 lifts supporting the setup. The very fact that THC has gone ahead and purchased a generator to protect the hospital from the well known power failures in the city speaks volumes on the commitment of the hospital towards the patients and their well being. Not only will the generator light the whole place up but will also support both the OT's, ICU with all their gadgetry (including AC's) and the lift. With a bore well in place, the much talked of water scarcity in the city will not affect the hospital. And last but not the least a small but well stocked cafeteria will keep the relatives from hours of fasting while they await the medical care of their near and dear ones.
THC concept or thought was born with the intention of trying to overcome the lacunae in the
existing medical system and the whole idea is to develop an Institution which will try to tackle
these shortcomings. Medical field is one of the most poorly defined professions. More ever due to the advent of readily available net information the half baked knowledge has confused the consumers (as they have now been labelled by law) .The patient has now started referring to the doctor as a service provider and the hospital a "shop" the doctor has now started looking at his patient as a customer. The patient is forever looking at the doctor with suspicion attributing many of the decisions taken by the doctor as nothing more than a source to fill his kitty. On the other hand the doctors, now being answerable under the CPA (Consumer Protection Act) are extremely cautious with their patients and their diagnosis, lest they get charged with dereliction of duty and in the process end up going through a battery of investigations and tests. This then becomes a vicious cycle wherein the patient's suspicion and the doctor's caution sees to it that the wheel keeps going round and round.
The solution to this distrust is patient education in a language that they comprehend. This is
exactly what THC intends incorporating as one its many activities with the future planning for a
well equipped medical library with net connection, for the patients, free of a cost . To go one
step further in alleviating the patients fears about the bills and the suspicion amounting to attributing the doctors decision purely for monetary gains THC plans to incorporate packages
for most of the surgical interventions.
Medical service is very much a service sector nowadays. As is experienced many a times by
patients that although they are happy with the treatment, they are rarely happy with the service by the hospital staff. The reason is the lack of orientation given to the hospital staff and the lack of education in handling the patients. THC will conduct regular orientation sessions for its nurses, ward boys, sweepers and other employees to discuss the feedback by the patients on their input. Due care will be taken to ensure that the patients and the relatives are encouraged to give their feedback on the services and the suggestions will be taken seriously.
All in all THC is a dream dreamt by some medical service providers who take their role
